1819. OPENING AND UTILIZATION OF PRINCIPAL CHIEF’S OFFICE.
Hon. M. Monyolo (PR): To ask the Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship, if he is aware that construction of the building meant to serve as the offices of the Principal Chief of Koeneng, Chief Ramoqai Lesaoana Peete, was completed almost five years ago but to-date no office furniture has been supplied and the building remains closed; and if so, how soon the Minister will ensure that the office is officially opened and all the requisite supplies are provided, as currently the Principal Chief holds office matters outside even during harsh weather conditions.
1820. REHABILITATION OF A ROAD.
Hon. M. Monyolo (PR): To ask the Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship, if he is aware that the road from Mapoteng, Khotsisi, Ha-Morena Sebili Hlajoane to the offices of the Principal Chief of Koeneng and Mapoteng is badly damaged due to torrential rains, and road users are compelled to take the far longer route through Mpharane, Leribe; and if so, how soon the Minister will intervene as damage to the road causes great inconvenience to everyone including the Chiefs of Mapoteng, Ha-Dyeke, Ha-Ntima, Futhong, Koma-Koma, Ha-Kone, Phororong, Mosalemane, Khokhobe, Ha-Tjobe, Tsokung and Senqunyane who are often late to attend to their duties.
1821. INFORMATION REGARDING STATE OF LESOTHO PRISONS.
Hon. C. M. Hlao (PR): To ask the Minister of Justice and Law, to say how soon he will make a statement in the House regarding the current circumstances of Lesotho correctional institutions, either confirming or refuting the allegations made by one independent researcher from New Zealand in a recent television programme, who proclaimed that Lesotho’s correctional institutions are in a very dire state, and more importantly, they perform very poorly in reforming incarcerated persons contrary to the objective suggested in the name “Lesotho Correctional Services”.
1822. REIMBURSEMENTS FOR PAP MEMBERS.
Hon. K. Makoa (PR): To ask the Minister responsible for Parliamentary Affairs, if he is aware that the following Members of Parliament: Hon. T. Kalake, Hon. M. Phafoli, Hon. P. Leteetee and Hon. K. Makoa, attended a Pan-African Parliament (PAP) Meeting to represent the Parliament of Lesotho and to be sworn in as Members of the PAP in May, 2021 but that to-date they have still not been reimbursed the money they spent on the trip, even after the Minister of Finance and the Leader of the House gave instructions that their reimbursements be processed; and if so, how soon the Minister will intervene.
1823. UNPAID OLD AGE PENSIONERS.
Hon. S. Peea (Thaba-Moea): To ask the Minister of Social Development, if she is aware that old age pensioners at Montmater did not receive their pension payments for the month of April, 2022; and also that this has become a regular occurrence as some pensioners are still owed payments from 2021; and if so, how soon the Minister will intervene as this apparent lack of equity has disgruntled the old age pensioners.
